Paul Harvey grew up in Melbourne, Australia the eldest boy of seven siblings.
Paul decided he wanted to draw after his Prep teacher called his Mum and Dad
to the school to to show them a terrific bird he'd drawn. He was hooked.
Paul studied at Marcellin College, Bulleen where he was one of those kids forever
drawing his teachers. He received a his Masters in Graphic Design at Swinburne Uni.
despite spending too much of his time drawing his lecturers and worked in advertising
years for the next, too many years, drawing his clients. Paul says when he became too
follicularly challenged to grow the requisite ponytail he decided to leave the adworld
and concentrate on his illustration business he had been maintaining on the side.
Paul is now one of the country's leading illustrator / caricaturists working from his
home studio in Richmond where he lives with his wife Caroline, his boys, Sam and
Tom and his daughter Billie.
Paul has had work published in most newspapers and is a contributor to a diverse
range of magazines. He has also had many articles written about his work and had
stories appearing on TV news bulletins, children's and sport programs.
He recently appeared on New Delhi TV being interviewed about his cricket caricature.
Each year Paul is commissioned by the Australian Football League to illustrate
illuminated certificates which are presented to the reigning Brownlow Medalist
and the inducted members of the AFL Hall of Fame.
He is also avid historian of caricature particularly football and cricket and recently
wrote a chapter on the history of football caricature which appeared in the wonderful
Geoff Slattery Publishing book, 150 years of Australian Football .
Paul is the author of The Mighty Bunyips and The invincible Bunyips and the
illustrator of the SportsKids range of AFL books and a many other sport and
children's related books.
Paul has been a Fitzroy / Brisbane Lion member forever and at 43, still plays
